FAQ

How many detectors should my home have?

One inside each bedroom, one outside each sleeping area, and one on every level, including the basement. The address check estimates a count for a house like yours. We confirm the real number when we walk through.

Why does interconnected matter?

When one alarm sounds, they all sound. A detector in the basement can wake the bedrooms. If the old ones are wired together, we replace the set with one model so they still talk to each other.

Where do CO alarms go?

Within 15 feet of the bedrooms in a Colorado home with gas appliances or an attached garage. Also put one on each level. We look at your house and say where.

What does Colorado law require?

Colorado's Lofgren & Johnson Memorial CO Safety Act requires working CO alarms within 15 feet of bedrooms in homes with gas appliances or attached garages.

Can I just take the battery out when it chirps?

No. The chirp means the battery is dying, or the detector itself is expired. Pull the battery and that room has no alarm. If the date on the back is past 10 years, replace the unit.

How long does a detector last?

Ten years from the date stamped on the back. After that, replace it. Most CO alarms last 7 years. The date is on the back.

What does it cost?

A checkup is $89. Replacement is $129 for each detector, installed. Book the replacement the same day and the checkup fee comes off the bill.

Do you report me to anyone?

No. We are a house-call replacement service. We are not the fire department.
